Artist: Edwin Scheier (1910-2008)
In the late 1990s, when American potter Ed Scheier could no longer work with clay but feeling the need to create, he did the logical thing, he bought a computer. Working with a computer sketch pad and a color printer, Ed began to make a different form of art. Working alone, asking few questions of others, experimenting all the time, he began to make remarkable printed images. If you know Ed Scheier's pottery then you will recognized that the iconography of the prints flow almost directly from designs he used when decorating his pottery. And like his pottery no two are the same. For persons interested in more information on Ed and his wife Mary I would suggest viewing the PBS documentary "Four Hands, One Heart" written and directed by Ken Browne.
