Rudolph Pott, would later be known as, Rudy Pott, a well-known illustrator in the late 1930s-1950s. Written on a separate piece of paper attached to the mat is the following annotation:

Edition: 4. Signed and annotated in pencil, H. Rudolph Pott - Arizona - 1928, lower right; titled, Hopi House - Moencopi, lower left. Monogrammed "P" in the lower left corner of the block. Image: 6 x 8 inches (152 x 202 mm). Sheet: 7 3/16 x 10 1/2 inches (182 x 266 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. Printed on fine off-white Japan paper. This particular print was exhibited at the Print Club of Philadelphia. An accompanying artist signed receipt reads: The Print Club of Philadelphia, 1614 Latimer Street, Third Annual Exhibition of American Block Prints, March 8th to 27th, 1929, Name: H. Rudolph Pott Address: 34 S. 17th St. Philadelphia Title: Hopi House - Moencopi Price: $15.00 Attach one label to back of each print. Duplicate prints may be obtained from H. Rudolph Pott The Hopi village of Moenkopi, Arizona, located west of Third Mesa, is also the most western of all Hopi communities. Originally established as a farming outpost for larger Hopi villages on Third Mesa (for instance Bacabi), in the 1870s it was established as a separate village. "Moencopi" is an older variant spelling of the more current and commonly used "Moenkopi." $850.00 |

Image: 10 1/16 x 8 inches (255 x 203 mm). Sheet: 16 5/8 x 10 1/2 inches (422 x 266 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. Printed on fine off-white laid paper with highly reflective dark black ink. Two pieces of original matting tape at the upper left and right corners of the sheet, well away from the image. A very interesting linoleum cut depicting Ranstead Street, located in Philadelphia's Center City District. $500.00 |
