"Not a Gentle Saddle Horse"
circa
1935, Etching.
Edition: Not stated, but probably less than 25. Signed in pencil, Pedro Martinez, lower right; titled, Not a Gentle Saddle Horse, lower left. Image: 3 x 4 inches (76 x 102 mm). Sheet: 4 1/16 x 5 inches (103 x 127 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. A fine clean impression on wove paper. Obscured within the etching, once under the horse and once on the saddle, are the etched figures "P3" - I am assuming that this was a branding mark of Martinez's. I am also guessing that it is a rolled P and a rolled M. Also, it is pencil signed Pedro Martinez and not Pete Martinez, which is something of a rarity. SOLD |

"San Xavier del Bac" 1937, Etching. Edition: Not stated, but probably less than 25. Signed in pencil, Pete Martinez, lower right; titled, San Xavier del Bac, lower left; monogrammed and dated in the plate, PM 1937, lower left. Image: 6 7/8 x 9 7/8 inches (174 x 251 mm). Sheet: 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches (200 x 286 mm). Excellent condition. Small margins, probably as issued. A fine clean impression on wove paper. Some inked fingerprints (probably the artist's) in two margin areas. An interesting print of Mission San Xavier by a man who would have known it intimately. $750.00 |
