"Howdy" Circa 1940s, Etching. Edition: 5. Signed in pencil, Orson Linn, lower right; titled, Howdy, center; numbered, 1/5, lower left. Image: 4 1/16 x 5 1/2 inches (103 x 140 mm). Sheet: 6 1/2 x 8 1/8 inches (165 x 206 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. A deep impression printed on cream laid paper. In the 1930s Linn was employed by the Northern California WPA Art Education Program. He also became affiliated with a San Francisco group known as the "Thirteen Watercolorists," founded by artists Maurice Logan and Maynard Dixon, the group organized a series of annual exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Art beginning in the spring of 1937. $225.00 |
