THE PORTFOLIO FOLDER:

The portfolio folder itself is made of a heavy tan card stock, folded, with cut tabs to hold the prints. The folder, closed, measures 13 1/8" x 10 3/4" (332 x 272 mm). Portfolio condition: There is a slight discoloration near the upper right hand corner, very minor. Additionally, there are some minor creases to the corners.

The back of the portfolio displays a list of the prints, a Lon Megargee image, and a foreword written by Western author Owen Arnold, it is signed "O. A." and reads:

What's inside a lariat loop?

A Steer's head, yes, or a snorting stallion, or perchance even a mountain lion. But symbolically it takes in more than that.

If the cowboy has imagination, the loop of his yearning takes in all that he sees and knows and loves; and if he has friendliness, he wants most of all to share those things.

Here for you, then, are some of the fine things that Lon Megargee has roped. Scenes of beauty from the borderland; vibrant glimpses of the old frontier; characters who are lusty and bold. Together they are a portfolio in rare artistry, depicting our southwestern region of romance. In strength and variety and interpretive feeling they are unexcelled. Fortunate is the person who owns them.

-O. A.
