"The Ruins" circa 1960s, Aquatint. Edition: 20. Signed in pencil, Loraine Moore, lower right; numbered, 5/20, lower left; titled, The Ruins, on the reverse. Image: 8 7/8 x 13 15/16 inches (225 x 354 mm). Sheet: 13 7/16 x 17 5/16 inches (341 x 440 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. Printed on white wove paper. Moore, a student and friend of Doel Reed, worked as an art instructor at the University of Oklahoma. She became a master printmaker, creating many fine prints. As with Doel Reed, Moore found the aquatint process to be her medium. Unfortunately there is very little biographical information on this artist. Loraine Moore's first name is commonly misspelled as Lorraine. A deep and evocative aquatint by a very underrated artist. $650.00 |
