"Texas Oil Fire"
1939, Lithograph.
Edition: Not stated, but probably rare. Signed and dated in pencil, Cherry - 39, lower right; titled, Texas Oil Fire, lower center; signed in the stone, Herman J. Cherry, lower left. Image: 12 x 16 1/2 inches (304 x 418 mm). Sheet: 14 x 20 inches (355 x 506 mm). Excellent condition. Good margins. Printed on white wove paper with BFK watermark. Fine white line details in the black ink are expressed by scratching through the lithographic crayon before printing. An extremely interesting print by this well-known American artist who would later, like Pollack and others, reject realism for abstract expressionism. $2650.00 |
