|

Albright, lower right and initialed in the block, LA, lower left; titled, A Taos Gateway - Taos N.M., lower left; edition statement 24/100, lower middle. Image: 6 x 7 1/2 inches (153 x 190 mm). Sheet: 7 x 10 1/4 inches (177 x 260 mm). Reference: Powers and Powers 2000 Excellent condition. Good margins - as issued, appears to have never been either framed or matted. A rather pale print, signed, titled, and numbered by the artist, so as intended. The image depicts the entrance "gateway" to the Mabel Dodge Luhan house in Taos, New Mexico. According to Powers and Powers (2000:5), Lloyd Lhron Albright was a resident of Dalhart, Texas. He was basically "self-taught" but did spend time at the Chicago Academy of Arts in 1922, and with Taos artists Herb Dutton (1930) and Emil Bisttram (1931). This image was mostly created during that time period. $250.00 |
